Support Questions

How is my personal data handled?

The app does not collect any personal data, except a hash of your email address (more details here). However, we don't stop you from sharing contact information in chat rooms. Exercise discretion before you do that. Fortunately the chat rooms are only accessible to members of the same school community. And all messages will be deleted at the end of each school year.

Why do you need my email address?

We do not store your email address. However, for account recovery purposes, we need to store a hash of your email address. During account recovery, you will be asked to re-enter your email, which we turn into the hash again to match against our records. Because we do not store your actual email address, we will never send you any emails. And your email address won't be leaked even if there is a security breach.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. However, your posts are not deleted automatically, except the author name will be become "former user". All posts will be deleted at the end of the current school year.

We will store the hash value of your email address for another 30 days after deletion, to record the fact that the account has been deleted. During that period the email address cannot be used to create another account. For step-by-step instructions, see How to delete account.

What is passkey and why do I need that to sign up?

The app does not use passwords. Your device must support passkeys to use the P-Teams app. Passkeys are more secure than passwords. They are manged by the platform (Android or iOS). So you have one less thing to remember. But your device must be signed in to your Google or iCloud account in order for it to work.

Sign in on a new device

Using your passkey, you can sign in on another device as long as it's the same device platform (Android or iOS), and signed in to the same platform account. You can also make the app display a QR code, then sign in at another device by scanning it. This allows you to sign in on a different device platform, or if it's signed in to a different Google or iCould account. You also share your membership with family members. However, it's limited to 5 devices.
